We operate two Coltan mines, Kisoro and Kabale District, in Uganda’s Albertine Rift. Kabale mine is among the largest in Africa, contributing significantly to the local economy and supporting communities. Our Damang mine is treating stockpiles as we consider its options for future growth or closure.
The Government of Uganda owns a 10% free-carry shareholding in our mines:
Kabale: Open-pit
Life-of-mine (LOM): 13 years
In 2023, we entered into an agreement with Small Scale Miners to form a JV comprising the adjacent Kabale and Kisoro mines, with Kisita Mining having a majority share. The merger is awaiting the go-ahead from the Uganda government. Negotiations are ongoing
Committed environmental protection through rehabilitation of mine-impacted land and robust water management practices. Damang’s closed tailings dam has been converted to agricultural land for the benefit of host communities
Strong partnerships with local communities, with a focus on host community procurement and employment, and investment in education, health and infrastructure. Kisita Mining’ two largest infrastructure projects are located in Uganda.
